National parks are in trouble in NSW. Not only has the Coalition stopped building the national parks network (the rate of national park creation has dropped by 95%), but it’s now openly attacking existing national parks and the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS).
We have seen plans to bulldoze a motorway through Royal, Australia’s first national park. We have witnessed commercial logging of the Murray Valley National Park. NPWS has had repeated funding cuts, lost 20% of rangers and hundreds of years of management experience.
It’s time to stand up for our national parks.
